Build Your Bike with Arthur at Bike Teacher

Hands-On Bike Build Class in San Jose, CA

I’m Arthur, owner and instructor at Bike Teacher. Bring your frame and compatible components, and I’ll guide you through assembling your bike. You’ll work on the build yourself while learning how the parts fit together and how to set up the finished bike.

Class price: $650 flat rate
Scheduling: Typically a full-day class; sessions can be split by arrangement
Class size: 1 on 1 (unless you have a partner)
Location: San Jose, California

This bicycle build class is priced as a project, not by the hour. Before booking, I’ll review your frame and components with you to confirm the scope and check for compatibility or routing issues. If complex routing, integrated controls, missing or incompatible parts, or other added work changes the agreed scope, I’ll discuss any price adjustment with you before proceeding.

What You’ll Work On

  • Installing the fork, headset, and cockpit

  • Installing and adjusting the drivetrain

  • Setting up the brakes and shifting

  • Routing cables, housing, or hydraulic lines, as applicable

  • Installing a dropper post, if included in your build

  • Setting up tubeless tires, if desired and compatible

  • Adjusting suspension and setting rider position

  • Cutting the steerer tube or hydraulic lines, when needed

  • Applying bar tape, when applicable

  • Completing final adjustments and a safety check

This is a hands-on bike assembly class: you do the work with my guidance. Bring your frame and compatible components. Missing or replacement parts and any additional materials are separate from the class price. I’ll review what’s needed with you before we proceed.

Prefer to Have Me Build It for You?

For a straightforward complete bike build with external routing, my shop-build labor is $475. Internal routing, integrated drop-bar controls, or other added complexity may affect the price. Send me the frame and parts details for a quote before booking. Parts and additional work are quoted separately and approved with you first.
