Bicycle Repair Classes in California: Start Small and Build Your Skills

You don’t have to commit to a full mechanic training program to start learning bicycle repair. Whether you want to maintain your own bike or explore more extensive training, a shorter class can help you take that first step.

At Bike Teacher in San Jose, California, instruction centers on hands-on practice, with time to ask questions and work through the skills you’re learning.

Start with a beginner class

Our 4-hour beginner bicycle repair class costs $255 and offers an approachable introduction to working on bikes.

You don’t need to arrive already knowing the tools or terminology. The goal is to help you become more comfortable working on a bicycle and build a foundation for continued learning.

If you decide to continue, your completed beginner class hours can count toward Bike Teacher’s 40-hour program. You can start small and build on that experience.

Learn in a small class

Classes have a maximum of four students, and some sessions are one-on-one. That means opportunities to ask questions, receive feedback, and practice with guidance from your instructor.

You’ll spend time working on bikes and developing skills through practice.

Choose the training that fits your goals

Bike Teacher offers beginner classes, 40-hour and 70-hour training options, and wheel-building instruction.

A shorter class can be a starting point for maintaining your own bicycle. Longer programs provide more time to develop and practice a broader range of mechanic skills.

If you’re unsure which option fits, tell us what you’d like to learn and how much experience you have. We can help you choose.

Ask about class dates

Bike Teacher has taught bicycle repair since 2013. Classes take place in San Jose, with flexible scheduling and students welcome from across California and beyond.
