Trail-side Repair class

Geared towards providing a real-world, worst-case scenario experience, the trail-side repair class teaches you everything you need to know about getting your bike moving when an unexpected flat or snag stops you mid-ride. Conducted in local San Jose parks, you’ll work with a realistic set of tools to simulate a real ride, and learn just how much you can repair when you’re out and about.

Course Length: 2-4 hours, depending on the length of the trail

Course Cost: TBD

Class Size: 1-4

Skills Covered:

  • Flat repair, tube replacements, and dealing with tubeless setups and sealants

  • Adjusting front and rear derailleurs

  • Adjusting mechanical and disc brakes

  • Shock adjustments: setting your sag, rebound and compression dampening.

  • Complete bike safety check and post-fall inspections

  • Chain repair

  • Diagnosing noises and identifying their source

  • All the necessary tools to carry when going on a long ride

  • Dealing with the unexpected, and how to get rolling again!

You may customize this class. If you have a particular skill you want to cover, just let us know!

We will be working on off-road trails, so a suitable bike (mountain/gravel) is recommended. The location is flexible, and will be determined beforehand. Trails range from beginner-friendly to challenging for the skilled rider. A 8-9 mile loop is standard with a trailside stop at mile 3 and 5 (optional). An extended route is also available with a turn around point at mi 9, roundtrip 18-20 miles.

After this course, you’ll be able to set out on all of your rides with confidence, knowing that you can handle any problems that your bike runs into on the road.
